PUBLIC IMAGE COMMITTEE
Overall Purpose and Structure
The District Public Image Committee serves as the primary voice for our Rotary community, dedicated to amplifying our impact and shaping a narrative that reflects our values. Our mission is to foster a deep understanding, appreciation, and support for Rotary’s diverse programs through strategic storytelling and outreach.
Our Core Objectives
Elevate Brand Awareness: Promote Rotary’s mission to the public to increase community engagement and support.
Champion Internal Advocacy: Educate Rotarians and Rotaractors on why effective publicity and positive public relations are vital to our collective success.
Inspire Action: Showcase the tangible efforts of our members to entice professionals and community leaders to join us in service. The committee composition will reflect a continuity of leadership. This includes a commitment to, as well as experience with, the general oversight and support of the policies and procedures of the Rotary District and clubs.
To ensure our messaging is both modern and effective, our committee members bring specialized skills to the table, including:
Media & Marketing Expertise: Professionals with backgrounds in journalism, digital marketing, or public relations.
Proven Leadership: Former Club Public Image Chairs or Presidents who understand the local landscape.
Youth Perspective: Active Rotaractors who can bridge the gap between traditional service and new-age engagement.
Role of the District 7090 Public Image Committee
This committee focuses on functioning as a resource to the District Governor, the District Executive, and Directors. The committee develops a quarterly work plan in consultation with District Governor and others in order to promote public awareness of projects and events.
Our Public Image Committee endeavors to help communities understand what Rotary does and how we’re making a difference. The committee promotes Rotary to the public and fosters understanding, appreciation, and support for our programs.
Among other activities this committee's role is to:
Contact media with stories of projects and events in the district, and share these stories through social media.
Promote the End Polio Now campaign, our areas of focus, grant successes, and alumni activities.
Encourage clubs to make public relations outreach a priority.
Plan and conduct Club Workshops in consultation with the governor and district trainer, as well as the district membership and Rotary Foundation chairs.

Role of a Club Public Image Committee
The role of the club public relations committee is to create and implement a plan to tell Rotary’s story to the public and promote the club’s projects and activities.
Having strong public relations ensures that communities around the world know that Rotary is a credible organization that meets real needs.
When a Rotary club has a positive public image, current members are motivated to be active, and prospective members are eager to join.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Encourage clubs within the District to make public image a priority.
- Promote Rotary to the media, community leaders, and beneficiaries of Rotary programs.
- Promote Rotary’s visual identity and voice.
- Communicate with the governor and the chairs of key committees to stay informed about projects and activities.
- Liaise and collaborate with the Rotary Public Image Coordinator.
- Share RI public image materials with clubs.
- Seek opportunities to speak to individual clubs about the importance of club public image.
