The Dr. Davey Holiday Breakfast initiated 23 years ago by police officer Joanne Serkeyn, has become a beloved annual event. Serkeyn continues to organize and fundraise, supported by the Ancaster RotaryClub, her fellow Lincoln Rotarians, and community partners like Tiercon. Police and fire departments attend, serving breakfast and giving gifts to students.
A model for community policing, Dr. Edgar Davey’s Holiday Breakfast is more than a seasonal gesture. It’s a model of how sustained, humane engagement can reshape perceptions, foster belonging, and inspire future generations.
When police show up with pancakes instead of patrol lights, they plant seeds — seeds that grow into trust, aspiration, and, ultimately, a safer, more connected community.
For Dr. Davey students, past and present, the message is clear: you are seen, you belong, and the people who once served your community can become the very mentors who help you thrive.
