The grey dismal sky brings on Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) of which, John Hopkins University says " . . . that shorter days and less daylight may trigger a chemical change in the brain leading to symptoms of depression. " Some people may find themselves at a very bad place this time of the year. As part of the RI president's emphasis this Rotary Year on Mental Health, and as the Club's contribution to the District Wide Day of Service, the Lewiston/NOTL Rotary Club, in conjunction with the Niagara County Board of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, publicized the 988 Mental Health Crisis Service 24 hours Hotline that is in place in the US and Canada that offers " free confidential support, guidance, information, referral and intervention as needed."
