For members of the Rotary Club of Le Roy, service includes caring for the everyday places that connect their community.
Their cleanup effort at the Park N Ride at New York State Thruway Exit 47 put that commitment into action, giving attention to a shared space used by travelers and commuters.
The project reflects a straightforward approach to community involvement: identify a local need and lend a hand.
While a parking area may not command the attention of a major community landmark, taking care of it sends an important message—that shared spaces deserve shared responsibility.
This hands-on effort is one part of the Le Roy club’s broader service story.
From supporting local graduates and young people to participating in health initiatives with a global reach, the club connects practical action close to home with a commitment to improving lives farther afield.
At Exit 47, that commitment took a distinctly local form. The cleanup serves as a reminder that community pride is expressed not only through large projects and financial contributions, but also through the willingness to show up and do the work.
Through scholarships exceeding $30,000/year for local graduates, youth sports, bicycle safety, the Backpack Program, global polio eradication, and lifesaving work for babies in Uganda, the Rotary Club of Le Roy continues to demonstrate how local service can create lasting change.
