At a recent meeting at Dina’s in Ellicottville, the Rotary Clubs of Ellicottville and Olean hosted DG Scott Marcin, Rotary Foundation District Director Sandi Chard, and Alzheimer’s Association WNY Chapter Executive Director of Development Lynn Westcott.Lynn Westcott spoke on the troubling progression of Alzheimer’s disease and the toll this takes on family and friends. She also mentioned progress being made in research on the development of new medications. Lynn then presented Club President Weismantel with a Cutco cutting board for winning the friendly competition with the Olean Club for fundraising this past Fall leading up to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s held in Olean.

Sandi Chard spoke on the many great causes being performed worldwide and locally from a strong Rotary Foundation and the need to continually raise funds to support these efforts. She then acknowledged Weismantel as becoming Paul Harris Bequest Society member. The Ellicottville Club then presented checks to the Rotary Foundation and the PolioPlus Fund. Governor Marcin spoke on his own “Rotary moment” leading to joining Rotary and the importance of a strong and vibrant Rotary to the community and World. He presented Olean Club President Paula Bernstein with the Citation Award for accomplishment of 2022 goals.
