Dr. Pascal Mubenga, Superintendent of Buffalo Public Schools was the headliner at the Rotary Club of Buffalo on Thursday, February 26th.
Dr. Mubenga stepped into the role of Buffalo’s Superintendent in August 2025 after being unanimously appointed by the Buffalo Board of Education. Dr. Mubenga leads the second-largest and one of the most diverse school districts in New York State. He has more than 25 years of experience in public education including holding the position of Superintendent for Durham, NC schools – a district with 30,000 students.
Dr. Mubenga outlined some of the major challenges facing the district -among them busing. We have far too many instances of buses arriving very late – disturbing instruction – and not picking up students until 5pm.  He is directing his energies on this important issue.  He says he is not an ‘office guy’ and spends a great deal of time visiting the Buffalo schools.
