How to Promote your Event on Facebook
What is the Magic of Social Media tools to Promote your image?
There is no magic in using social media as a promotion tool. It is consistent work, that requires thought and strategies. This is especially so once you recognize the difference the process of Social Media uses when compared to traditional media. Whereas both are channels to the client / end consumer, it’s important to recognize the tactical difference.
McLuhan’s idea of the “Medium is the Message” is especially true in social media. His theory was that the Medium creates a symbiotic relationship by which the medium influences how the message is perceived. Whereas traditional newsprint or radio medium is received by the consumer and simply accepted or ignored, Social Media promotes the message by allowing the receiver to actively become involved. If I read a newspaper, I am the end of the chain and can simply agree or disagree, buy, or not buy. However; with social media, not only can I agree or disagree, buy or not buy; but I can press a button to show my friends my support of the message. I therefore, as a receiver of the message, can activate another channel for the message to follow. An additional receiver of that same message (with your message of support) can activate more channels. The network does not end with one reader, but if the message is structured right, it will explode to hundreds or thousands of channels; spreading the message to create relationships to unbelievably large audience.
Social Media: a rifle not a shot gun
Any message you have will have a specific target it is trying to influence. If the message is to encourage young professionals to join Rotary, what newspapers do they read? Perhaps they don’t read newspapers at all? Your local radio station will claim to have a large audience but there are so many stations you have to buy three ads to get the audience you want.
Social Media messages can be directed (at a small cost) to young professionals that live in a defined geographical area. This means your message goes directly to the audience your strategy is striving to reach. If you are successful in hitting this target, there is a great chance that they will open more channels to a similar audience that might be interested. The multiplier effect is a bonus!
How can social media promote brand image?
For building your image on social media, always encourage your members to share informative content. It makes you genuine and the number of followers will increase. Try to use visual content because it will be shared more on the social network. The way of presenting your content should be in such a way that it can enhance the overall return for your efforts.
