DISTRICT GOVERNOR ELECT
Joanne Serkeyn - 2026/27
District Governor, Community Leader, and Outdoor Enthusiast
As a proud member of Rotary Club of Lincoln, as District Governor, I bring a passion for leadership, service, and making a difference in our communities and beyond. With 27 years of professional experience in policing, including my current role as DNA Coordinator in the Forensics Unit, I have developed expertise in conflict resolution, mediation, and fostering collaboration with diverse groups. These skills underpin my commitment to Rotary’s mission of “Service Above Self.”
Beyond my professional and Rotary responsibilities, I am an avid cyclist and outdoor enthusiast. I’ve participated in numerous bike runs, including charity rides like the Myeloma Cancer Ride, Tour de Guelph, and Bike for Ukraine, blending my love of biking with causes that create meaningful impact. Organizing events such as Bike the Benchlands—a fundraiser supporting the Kristen French Child Advocacy Centre and youth mental health —has been a highlight of my Rotary service. The outdoors inspires me, and staying active fuels my ability to contribute energetically to the communities I serve. Throughout my Rotary journey, I’ve served as President three times and led initiatives that have strengthened local and global communities. Highlights include the creation of the Dr. Edgar Davey Holiday Breakfast, which has brought joy to over 500 children annually for 20 years, and my mentorship of youth through Rotary Youth Exchange, Interact Clubs, and leadership programs. Globally, I’m proud to advocate against human trafficking through Rotarians Against Slavery and support legislative changes to combat exploitation.
With a deep appreciation for community, the outdoors, and an active lifestyle, I am honored to guide and inspire Rotarians as District Governor, empowering them to build lasting change while embracing the joys of life and service.
