Williamsville Is Busy!

The Williamsville Rotary Club’s president and Assistant Governor of Area 11, District 7090, Richard Wojtowicz and his dedicated Rotarians take action to create lasting change in our community. Through our many events we are able to improve lives and create a better world to support each other while empowering the next generation of leaders through scholarships and education.

Upcoming: Williamsville Rotary will be celebrating our 100th year with a Fine Wine & Craft Beer Tasting Gala sometime in late September or early October 2024.

EVENT: Amherst Symphony Friends Scholarship Award (May 16, 2023): The award of $2000.00 was presented to Alex Weber who performed at the Buffalo Country Club on his Bassoon by Rotary President, Richard Wojtowicz. The Friends of Amherst Symphony and the Williamsville Rotary Club offer an annual scholarship to a high school senior who plans to major or double major at an accredited music school. Alex studied under his teacher Paul Furlong and will be attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.

EVENT: Shred-it Event (May 20, 2023): The Rotary Club of Williamsville holds its annual community “Shred-It” event each Spring. This year, despite the rain, we were able to fill the entire bin and unfortunately had to turn vehicles away. The service is free and the donations of $10.00 per box proceeds will be directed to where the need is greatest in our community.

EVENT: Strawberry Festival (June 21, 2023): Our 21st Strawberry Festival was a great success! We topped all other years in attendance to make this a memorable festival. We couldn’t of done it without our sponsors and volunteers for their active participation and all the donations collected went straight to supporting our service projects.

EVENT: Classic Car Show & Family Fun Day (August 13, 2023): Everyone had a wonderful time looking at all the amazing classic cars. This year, we welcomed a record-breaking number for our event. Congratulations to the top three winners. Rick Tringali with his 1962 Dodge Dart won the Rotarian’s Award from sponsor Northwest. Tom Browarek with his 1961 Corvette won the President’s Award from sponsor West Herr Automotive Group and Jim Stockweather with this 1966 Chevelle who the Best of the Best Award from sponsor John & Carolyn Yurtchuk. Everyone’s contributions was able to help us continue to expand our mission to make lives better in our community.

Williamsville South High School Scholarship Program (August 16, 2023): Each year a female and male student is chosen based on good academic standing and who demonstrates leadership qualities in school clubs, activities, athletic and community service. Congratulations to the 2023 winners, Jillan Kneis and Shaan Jain. Jillian will be attending Villanova University School of Business and Shaan will be attending the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign for Industrial Engineering. Each winner received a check for $1000.00 that was presented by Rotary President, Richard Wojtowicz.
