Mental health and self-care were the focus of a few recent Rotary Club of Waterdown initiatives.
The Membership committee organized a “Rest, Relax and Chill” session at a local yoga studio, Yogashala, in January. Those who attended took part in meditation and gentle poses, followed by a social time with coffee and treats.
The Community Service committee hosted Hot Cocoa for the Soul Skate at the Rotary skating loop at Memorial Park. Originally scheduled to coincide with Bell Let’s Talk Day, the weather didn’t cooperate and the skate was postponed to Jan. 31. Rotary volunteers handed out hot chocolate and were joined by representatives from Lotus Counselling for a fun evening.
In addition to these events, the Community Service Committee recently donated $3,200 to Flamborough Connects to develop a “caring for the caregiver” mental health program that will provide respite and resources for community members who care for loved ones.
