The clubhouse at Rotary Garden Court in Waterdown was a hive of activity for the second annual Operation Christmas Cheer following the club’s Dec. 4 dinner meeting. Some 19 members and one community volunteer spent the evening writing thoughtful notes and attaching treats to cards that will be delivered to residents at local seniors’ residences.
The cards were collected earlier this fall at the club’s booth at the Waterdown Farmers’ Market and at a local café. In total, 500 cards were collected, and they will be delivered in time for the holidays.
And, since it is Rotary, club members turned the gathering into a fundraiser. Proceeds from a mini bake sale and the sales of handmade gift tags donated by Kim Piper will be directed to Polio Plus.
