CLUB WELCOMES NEW MEMBER ATIF!

The Rotary Club of St. Catharines Lakeshore is pleased to welcome new member Atif Shafi, inducted on February 9th.
 
Dr. Atif Shafi is a Medical Doctor with a post graduate degree in Diabetes from Cardiff University, Wales UK. Exhibiting a strong scientific curiosity and a solid willingness to learn and improve, he has 20+ years of leading teams and optimizing performance in different hospital settings and top multinational pharmaceutical company like Merck & Co with a people-first philosophy. Atif likes new challenges and is attracted by the roles of serving as educator, advisor, and health care professional. His passion is to help seniors or community, driven largely by values instilled in him by his faith and his family.
 
Atif grew up in Karachi, the largest city in Pakistan. Migrating from Pakistan to the Middle East, he worked as a medical doctor for 16 years before immigrating to Canada in 2018. He has have traveled 40 countries and knows 5 languages (Russian, English, Urdu, Hindi & Arabic). Recently relocating from Oakville to Welland, Atif is Franchise Owner of the Canadian based home-care company “Qualicare” in St. Catharines & Niagara Region, the company’s newest operational franchise (located at 205 King St., St. Catharines). His spouse also a medical doctor and working as Family Physician Asst. in Scott Clinic St. Catharines. They have twin 18-year-old boys, both going to university this year.
 
Atif loves to cook, first starting to learn its intricacies when he was about 17 years old. He also enjoys reading biographies or autobiographies of successful personalities which inspire and motivate him (e.g., the biographies of Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson and Elon Musk - How the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla is shaping our future).
