Service Above Self Highest Rotary Award

The Service Above Self Award is considered Rotary International’s highest honor to bestow on a Rotarian.

The purpose of this award is to recognize those individual Rotarians who have demonstrated exemplary humanitarian service, in any form and at any level, with emphasis on personal volunteer efforts and active involvement in helping others through Rotary.

The Rotary International Service Above Self Award was initiated in 1992 and is Rotary International's most prestigious honor given to individual Rotarians.

Of 1.2 million Rotarians worldwide, a maximum of 150 recipients may be selected each year.

Since 1992, only 12 Rotarians in District 7090 had been honored with the Service Above Self Award.

Earl Knauss of the Hamburg Club is the district’s 13^th honoree.
