ON THE MOVE

District 7090’s new global Rotary E-Club of Social Innovators (RESI) was chartered by Rotary International on December 15, 2017 with the Rotary Club of Brantford and the Rotary Club of Brantford Sunrise as its co-sponsors.

There were 40 RESI charter members on December 15th.  RESI has since added 11 new members from Belgium, Canada, Ghana, Liberia, Nicaragua, Scotland, Spain and United States.

RESI is a model of balanced diversity.  Not only is RESI truly global with members on 6 continents (i.e., Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe and North America and South America, including Central America), but its gender balance is almost perfect with 25 women and 26 men among the 51 RESI Members currently.

RESI also has a quite diverse age makeup with:
  • 2 Members in their 20s;
  • 10 Members in their 30s;
11 Members in their 40s;
  • 11 Members in their 50s;
  • 9 Members in their 60s; and
  • 8 Members in their 70s.
RESI’s youngest Member is 25; and its oldest Member is 79!

Finally, RESI has a good mix of experienced Rotarians, Rotary Alumni and brand new Rotarians with:
  • 12 of RESI Members being current or past Rotarians;
  • 4 of RESI Members being Rotary Peace Fellows; and
  • 2 of RESI Members being Rotary Ambassadorial Scholars.
The Inaugural Members Meeting of the Rotary E-Club of Social Innovators (RESI) was held on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 4 p.m. via Zoom during which:
  • District 7090 Membership Director PDG Kevin Crosby collectively inducted the RESI Members;
  • RESI New Club Advisor PDG Rick Sterne toasted the newly inducted RESI Members;
  • DG Reg Madison inducted and toasted the RESI Executive Officers; and
  • AG Roger Mann, Rotary Club of Brantford President Lance Calbeck, Rotary Club of Brantford Sunrise President Cam Johnston and District 7090 Member Recruitment Chair Gordon Crann spoke.
Two resolutions approving the 2017-18 RESI Executive Officers and the RESI By-laws were moved and seconded by the four RESI members with the longest Rotarian or Rotaractor service of 30, 13, 11 and 8 years respectively.

More than 30 people attended the Inaugural RESI Members Meeting on January 8th with the result that the attendees spilled over from the original Zoom page to a second one. You can view the video of the Inaugural RESI Members Meeting at the following link: https://vimeo.com/250197415.

On January 22nd, RESI President Elect & Chief Membership Officer Howard Weinstein spoke about his Vision for RESI, using his internationally award winning, social enterprise Solar Ear as an illustration, with 25 in attendance.
