This time, the aim was to repair and add to the array of Eastern Redbud trees the club already planted as well as add an additional three thousand daffodil bulbs to the grounds
around the planted trees. Over a span of three years the club has planted 13,200 daffodil bulbs in three different colors on our Norfolk Sunrise Trail between and behind the redbud trees. Eastern redbuds are a native species and daffodils are symbolic of hope and rebirth. Also, a team traveled to the proposed new trail site north of Waterford, where 35 Redbud/Maple/Sunbursts were planted.
Thanks go out to John Wallace for donating the trees, Andy Kooistra for looking after our heavy equipment needs and to our environmental committee for organizing the event and for continuing to add value and beauty to our trail. It's not even winter yet, and one can scarcely wait for the spring to arrive to see the results. Pictured left is the team of planters who turned out to add beauty to the trail.
It was a wet morning ... but not enough to deter the enthusiasm of the Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise members who, once again, arrived at the Davis Street entrance to the Sunrise Trail, and literally got right-down to work to continue with its development.
