SOWNY MAKING HEADLINES

On May 1st, the Chair of the Nominations Committee for the global Rotarian Action Group for Microfinance and Community Development (RAGM) announced the naming of two more of SOWNY's members to its Board of Directors by acclamation for three year terms.

Starting on July 1, 2017, E-Club of SOWNY member Albert Kim will take over as RAGM Funds Development Director from PDG Aziz Memon of the Rotary Club of Karachi, Pakistan.  On May 8th, E-Club of SOWNY President Gordon Crann and Albert Kim attended a special dinner meeting of the Rotary Club of St. Catharines South where PDG Aziz Memon was key note speaker on polio eradication.  It was there that President Gordon has the opportunity to introduce his friend PDG Aziz to Albert as his successor on the RAGM Board (pictured are Albert Kim and Aziz Memon).
Also starting on July 1, 2017, E-Club of SOWNY member Howard Weinstein will take over as RAGM Social Business Director from PDG Paul Beaulieu of the Rotary Club of Quebec-Charlesbourg, Canada, who declined re-election in order to focus his efforts on his role as a Trustee on The Rotary Foundation (Canada) Board.  Howard has already reached out to a number of Rotarians and Rotary Peace Fellows around the world who have expressed an interest in joining his RAGM Social Business Committee by, among other things, notifying them of free social business training courses they could register for.

Albert and Howard will join E-Club of SOWNY member Enzo Martinelli, who will be serving his last year on the RAGM Board and RAGM Executive Committee in the role of RAGM Immediate Past President. The E-Club of SOWNY will be the first and only Rotary Club to have multiple members serving simultaneously on the global RAGM Board - further enhancing the E-Club of SOWNY’s reputation as the leading E-Club for microfinance and social enterprise worldwide.
