PAYING FORWARD

Friday, April 21st, 9 students from Clarence High school made a presentation to the Clarence Rotary Club about the Butterfly Effect.  Simply put, the concept is to pay forward a donation and see what happens.  With a donation of $2500, students were charged with identifying worthy areas in the community for application of Rotary goals of service.

Students, with guidance from high school advisors donated to such causes as the SPCA, Water Wells for Africa, The Ride for Roswell, Birthday Squad of Buffalo, National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, Make-a-Wish, LYME WNY, and many more.  In several cases, students took the initial amount of $50 and by various means used that seed amount to raise more funds for their chosen charity.

The students summed it up by saying, "We want to thank The Rotary Club of Clarence for entrusting us with our Butterfly Project.  The lessons of service, charitable giving, and the power of paying it forward will provide a ripple effect that will continue to help others." We couldn't have said it better ourselves!  Pictured are Brian Schmidt of Clarence High School and the Interact President.
