Members and friends from the Rotary Club of Jamestown gathered at the UCAN City Mission on Thursday, Feb. 12 to provide support for the city of Jamestown’s only local emergency rescue mission. The effort was organized as the service project of Cáitlín O'Reilly, president-elect of the local club. The support consisted of preparing and serving meals for the individuals who receive assistance from the city mission.
When members of the community provide ingredients and also cook meals for the organization, it can help save as much as $160. On Feb. 12, the Jamestown Rotary members and friends served an estimated 15 meals, with plenty of leftovers for future meals as well. After preparing, cooking, and serving the meal, they joined the clients for dinner.
Nine Rotary members, one Rotary spouse, one middle school student, and our inbound and outbound exchange students all helped with the prep, cooking, and cleaning. Additional members donated food as well.
The Rotary Club of Jamestown is very grateful to everyone who helped and donated meal items.
