On his last night as Rotary Assistant Governor for District 7090, Michael Harrington addressed the assembled members of the Rotary Club of Jamestown, NY as they celebrated the year 2024-2025. Harrington is a member of Westfield Rotary Club and has served as Assistant Governor for several years, assisting more than 17 Rotary Clubs in the Southern Tier Area 16.Harrington has been elected to serve a one-year term as an At-Large Director on the District 7090 Board of Directors and was appointed to a three-year term as the District Foundation Chair or DRFC. As DRFC, he will lead a Foundation Committee of twenty-seven members plus additional voting members from the District Leadership chain.
The Foundation Committee is composed of multiple subcommittees, such as the Fundraising Committee which is focused on the Annual Fund, the Paul Harris Society and the Endowment including the Best of Friends Heritage Endowment Fund.
While he will no longer be the local club’s Assistant Governor, he and his team will interact with the local clubs from time to time.
He complimented the Rotary Club of Jamestown, calling it “a real gem.” He went on to say, “I am impressed at how the Club has been able to attract a diverse membership across the spectrum of Jamestown area businesses, non-profits and individuals, all with a good age cross-section.” He went on to say, “Your Club promotes well, has good service projects, very good speakers, and healthy weekly meetings. As far as your Club is concerned, I can wrap it up in one word…Congratulations.”
He complimented Marion Beckerink, out-going President and looks forward to working with in-coming President Michelle Jones. And then Harrington delivered the news!!!!
Marion has accepted the position of Rotary Area-16 Assistant Governor. Harrington feels sure Beckerink will be an excellent leader for Area-16 Clubs and contributor on District Council. He complimented Beckerink on stepping up to offer her services and support on a larger platform than her home Rotary Club…this is truly Service Above Self!!!
