At the recent Rotary Club of Jamestown Recognition Dinner, Out-going President Marion Beckerink noted that the local club was put in a position where they lost a top officer in their well-oiled succession process. JCC Vice President Kirk Young accepted a position as President of Wyoming Community College; however, he had been designated to become President of the Rotary. It left the Club with an enormous dilemma. The Club was privileged to have the indisputable talent of Michelle Jones who took a deep breath and jumped into the role with both feet.
Michelle is Vice President and Office Manager of Northwest Bank, Lakewood, New York. She has been a member of the Rotary since 2009 and has served on the Fundraising Committee, the Youth Services Committee, the Social Committee, the Nominating Committee, past Chair of the Vision Committee and Chair of the Rotary Club of Jamestown Community Service Fund, the local Club’s not-for-profit arm, and served on the Club’s Board of Directors. She has received two Paul Harris Fellow Awards. She and her family have hosted foreign exchange students in the past as well.
Jones received her bachelor’s degree from Houghton College and her master’s degree from St. Bonaventure University. She is married to Matthew Jones, and they are the parents of two adult daughters and a granddaughter.
