THE CITATION - LET'S SEE YOUR CLUB ACHIEVE IT

At our recent District 7090 Conference, we celebrated, on Thursday evening, all 25+ clubs that achieved the Rotary Citation.  On Saturday, we celebrated clubs that won the Lighthouse Award and one special club (Rotary Club of Fonthill) that won the governor’s trophy for their achievements during the 2020-2021 Rotary year.

I want to see even more clubs achieve the Rotary Citation in this Rotary year!

The Rotary Citation is awarded by Rotary International.  It recognizes Rotary clubs that support the strategic priorities of our organization over the course of our current Rotary year - July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022.

What does your club need to do to achieve this Rotary Club Citation honour?
  • Enter your club goals in Rotary Club Central.
  • Go to the Goal Centre and select this Rotary year.
  • Then click on the goals you want to focus on in this coming year.
  • There are 25 goals to choose from - you have to select and achieve 13 of those goals and record the achievement back in the Rotary Club Central
How do you check if your club has identified goals for this year?

There is an easy way to check.  You go to “My Rotary” and sign in.  The home page comes up with a section called “My Club Snapshot”.  Under the name of your President is a tab that says “view club goals”.   There you can click on them and see what your club President and likely Board have picked for the year.  If you are not sure of the status, ask your club President if he / she could update the club as you approach the six month mark for the year.

For more information on the Rotary Citation - see https://my.rotary.org/en/news-media/office-president/rotary-citation.  There are also citations for Rotaract clubs which can be found also at My Rotary.

Want to know what else your club can achieve?

What is this Lighthouse Award?

It is unique to our District 7090.  In order to qualify, your club has to have achieved a club citation.  From there, there are additional challenges listed.  You need to achieve 5 of them.  What types of challenges?
  • Sponsored a satellite club / passport club this year - seeing it successfully and officially launched
  • Had more than 1 club member attend District Conference
  • Posted at least 3 new articles or pictures to your Rotary Club webpage to keep it fresh and current
  • Been qualified as a club using our revised simplified grant qualification process
  • Have a strategic plan and have minutes or other ways of showing it has been reviewed and actions taken over this Rotary year.
  • Club supports at least one Youth Program such as Short Term Exchange, Long Term Exchange, Slapshot, RYLA, etc…
For all the criteria, see on our website… https://www.rotary7090.org/Page/club-president-s-resources

I want to celebrate your club.  Please do your part to ensure your club has its goals entered and are steering for the Lighthouse.  It would make this Governor do the happy dance!
