After a slow start, GOL activities have picked up this spring. Many thanks to the clubs that have donated thus far. Two clubs deserve special recognition at this time.-Eastern Hills, a long-time generous supporter of GOL, honored a commitment made last spring to contribute to a global grant focused on children with congenital heart disease living in Lebanon. Their generous contribution of $5,000 was matched dollar for dollar and DDF added another $4,000 making their total contribution worth $14,000. Thus far only one child has had surgery in Lebanon, a war-torn country, but cardiac surgeries will continue as soon as it is safe to do so.
-Clarence, another generous supporter, recently made their own club donation and also offered a challenge to other D7090 clubs. They will do a dollar-for-dollar match for funds generated between 4/21 and the end of the rotary year, 6/30. This is a great way to expand a club’s giving. If your club has not yet had a GOL Board member presentation, please contact Pat Castiglia @ ptcas34@hotmail.com or Cathy Henry @ dhenry1@cogeco.ca to arrange a date for a presentation. Clubs may also donate without a visit if they feel they do not wish or have time for a presentation.
Gift of Life is celebrating 50 years of continuous service since its inception. A great accomplishment with over 65,000 children saved and aided by District 7090. Congratulations to all who have supported the effort.
