RAINWATER COLLECTION PROJECT

The Rotary Club of Dunnville, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Arusha has installed Rainwater harvesting at the Emirate Dispensary in Monduli Juu, in Northern Tanzania.  The Rotary Club of Waterdown also donated to this cause.

The village has had limited access to water, and the Dispensary had to purchase water to operate. Because of this, they have not had a permanent doctor until recently. All this changed as a result of this Rotary project, which will allow the Dispensary to capture and store 140,000 litres of rain water, using appropriate technology and locally available resources.

Arusha Club member Ralph Williams has led the design and implementation of this project, in close partnership with village leadership, and members of the community have provided all of the labour for project construction.

On 29 September 2021 the Rain Water Harvesting installation was officially opened by the District Commissioner, and members of the Rotary Club of Arusha celebrated this project in a colourful ceremony together with village and Dispensary leadership and community members from Monduli Juu.

The Rotary Club of Dunnville celebrated by purchasing goats for the relentless volunteers who were there everyday to make this project happen.

Stay tuned for Part II to this project.  The Rotary Club of Dunnville will start raising funds to support one of three water projects in a nearby community.
