DG Rick’s December Message
December is Rotary Family month, which is appropriate for this special time of year. We come together as family and friends to celebrate and express best wishes for the coming year. It is important that we give thanks for all the blessings that we have received over the years. Let’s not forget those less fortunate than ourselves during this time and share some of our good fortune with others.
Remember:

I have now completed all of my Official Club visits and I am extremely impressed with all of the great work that our Clubs are doing, both locally and internationally. It makes me proud to serve as your District Governor. Thank you for your warm hospitality during my visits. I look forward to visiting you again in the New Year.
The whole Rotary world has embraced our “Peace through Service” theme. It sums up what we as Rotarians are all about in our motto “Service above Self”. I have shared the Rotary Peace Forums with each of you, the first of which was held in Berlin at the end of November. Many have told me that they would have liked to participate, but Germany, Hawaii and Japan are a long way to travel for a three day forum. Therefore, I am pleased to announce that we will be hosting a multi-District “Rotarians for Peace Symposium” in Toronto on Saturday, March 2, 2013. President Tanaka will also be participating. Please put it on your calendar and plan to attend. More details will be announced once they are finalized. I hope that we have a great turnout from District 7090.
I am also pleased to announce that we will be holding a District 7090 Awards Luncheon on Sunday June 9, 2013 at Salavtore’s Italian Garden restaurant in Buffalo. We will be presenting the 2012-2013 Presidential Citations and Lighthouse Awards to those Clubs that have earned them. This luncheon will be an ideal time to bring out many members of your Club to celebrate and be recognized for all your hard work.
This luncheon will also include the District Governor Changeover and Assistant Governor Installation. We will not only celebrate our accomplishments of the past year, but we will also learn the Goals and Theme of our incoming District Governor Kevin Crouse. Please put this date on your calendar and plan to be there.
In closing, Jeanette and I wish each of you and your families a wonderful, safe holiday celebration and a Happy New Year.
