Rotary Club of Buffalo members are thankful for being invited to tour Build Promise: Amy’s Place of Hope, a vision and mission of Amy Betros, co-founder and director of St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy. Nearly 30 of our members and invited guests took advantage of the opportunity to learn about the facility following an on-site lunch.
Amy’s Place of Hope is a refuge for the indigent and homeless. They had a ribbon cutting this past October and welcomed their first clients in November.
Howard Rich, Build Promise Chair, and Sam DiVincenzo, Executive Director, led us through the incredible 24,000 square foot facility where homeless men are given opportunities and a sense of love and respect.  There are laundry facilities, medical and mental resources, welcoming food services.  Bed facilities for up to 96 men and private shower areas are designed in a way to give clients a sense of peace and support.
Many companies and benefactors such as Russell Salvatore have generously given their support to this effort. Mental Health experts, medical personnel, even the DMV provide assistance to those in need.  Amy’s Place of Hope is currently operating Tuesdays and Wednesdays while evaluating their systems and fine-tuning the help they can provide.
This is a remarkable facility and one that depends on our community for support.  The members of the Rotary Club of Buffalo are happy to spread the word.
