Hellos, interesting presenters, thank yous and goodbyes highlighted our busy month.Since 2014, Buffalo String Works mission has been to ignite community and youth leadership through inclusive music education for refugee, immigrant and historically marginalized youth.
This fascinating program includes a comprehensive Student Support Program that offers mental health support, tutoring and homework help, financial literacy and other enrichment to students.
BSR presenter Melinda Smith has spent most of her professional career working in large-scale coalition and movement building.
For the last decade, she served as Director of Partnerships at Freedom Network USA, the largest coalition of advocates working on human trafficking issues in the United States.
Music has always been an integral part of Melinda’s life.
After working on a national level, she is excited to be back on the ground with her neighbors.

President Jill Norton exchanged flags with our talented and fun Youth Exchange student, Alix Hogarty from the Rotary-Liege Airport, Belgium Club.BS Rotarians gathered for a farewell dinner for member Wahid Sanjar, who is moving to Albany NY, where he plans to join a Rotary Club in that area. Wahid will be missed; however, we are happy for his new and exciting employment opportunity.
May will be a busy month with a Greenway and Towpath pollinator garden at the beginning of the month and the kickoff of our second annual Cash Raffle. Details are coming soon.
