Brantford Sunrise has launched its BIRTHDAY IN A BOX initiative, in partnership with the Brantford Food Bank! A group of volunteers from the Club gathered recently to assemble the first 200 packages. Club Past President, Glen Christensen, is shown making the delivery to the Food Bank. Each kit contains all the "ingredients" to celebrate a child's birthday:- The ingredients for a Bake-at-Home Cake (no eggs, milk or oil needed)
- Party Supplies
- Birthday Card
Everyone deserves to be celebrated, and this unique project helps parents and caregivers experiencing food insecurity celebrate a child's birthday without having to make a decision whether to feed the family, or have the celebration. There are 227 children registered with the Brantford Food Bank each month. The Club expects to assemble about 50 boxes per month, at a cost of $20.00 each.
