After several years of work, our club along with the Rotary Club of Godawari (Nepal), has been approved for a major Global Grant in the amount of $39,212 which will provide a village in Ruby Valley Nepal with 270 household toilets.Hygiene and behavior-change training will be provided. Proper sanitation will undoubtably prevent disease and save lives.
We, as the BNMC Rotary club, have used the 4-way test as a model of visionary leadership in the world.
Our club has also initiated a new local project providing our support and comfort to parents who come to our Golisano Children’s Hospital with their child for cancer treatments, Often parents are not prepared for overnight stays and our bags “Comfort from Sophia” provide them with necessities that make their stay a bit more manageable. Sophia was a patient at Golisano Children’s Hospital on J12 for a good part of two years in her losing battle with Ewings Sarcoma. She lost her life at age 9. A fierce philanthropist, Sophia encouraged her parents to set up a charity. "Sophia the Fierce” a 501C3 organization founded in 2022 while Sophia was in remission. The foundation focuses on providing money for Respite Research and Relief. Sophia was always looking out for others, and our club is in a small way is following her lead with our “Comfort from Sophia” Bags. Sophia would have been a great Rotarian!
