Spring has been a busy and rewarding season for the Batavia Rotary Club as members continued their commitment to “Service Above Self” through community projects, youth athletics, fundraising, and partnerships across Genesee County.One of the highlights this spring was participating in the United Way Day of Caring alongside members of the Le Roy Rotary Club at Purple Pony Therapeutic Horsemanship.
Volunteers spent the day helping improve the facility by building a new run-in shed for the horses, cleaning and refreshing the sensory trail, and installing a new gate to improve safety and accessibility.
Purple Pony’s mission of enhancing the lives of individuals with diverse needs through therapeutic horsemanship made the project especially meaningful for everyone involved.
Batavia Rotarians also joined forces with the Friends of the Ellicott Trail and community volunteers for the annual Ellicott Trail Clean-Up Day.
After a long winter, volunteers worked together to clean and beautify the trail, helping maintain one of Batavia’s treasured community assets.
Thanks to the hard work of many dedicated hands, the trail is once again safe, welcoming, and ready for residents and visitors to enjoy throughout the summer months.

The club continued with its longstanding support of local youth athletics through the Annual Batavia Rotary Club High School Baseball Tournament. This year’s tournament once again showcased outstanding competition and sportsmanship. Batavia Notre Dame captured the 2026 Rotary Baseball Tournament Championship, while Evan Fitzpatrick earned Tournament MVP honors. The tournament remains a proud Rotary tradition that brings the community together while supporting local student athletes.
In addition to outdoor projects and athletics, Batavia Rotary members rolled up their sleeves for a painting service project at the YWCA, helping refresh and improve community spaces that serve local families and individuals every day.
The club celebrated another successful Rotary Meat Raffle fundraiser this spring, with strong community support helping raise funds that will go directly back into local service projects, scholarships, and charitable initiatives throughout the year.
As spring turns to summer, Batavia Rotary is already looking ahead to one of its favorite annual traditions, the upcoming Father’s Day Fly-In Breakfast at the Genesee County Airport. The event brings together families, aviation enthusiasts, and community members for a morning of great food, airplanes, and fellowship, and Rotarians are excited to once again welcome the community for this special event!
