This page identifies the Governance Committee, including links to 4 subcommittees and is designed to give District 7090 clubs the resources necessary to direct and assist them in their local club governance as well as an understanding of District governance. 

GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE - INCLUDING 4 SUB-COMMITTEES

Overall Purpose and Structure:
Committee composition will reflect a continuity of leadership; a commitment to, as well as experience with oversight of the policies and procedures of Rotary districts and clubs. 
A background in governance processes through experience in not-for-profit board leadership roles would be an asset. 
Composed of 6-10 individuals including three Past Governors still residing in District 7090, the Governor, the Executive Secretary, and 2-5 Rotarians knowledgeable in not-for-profit operations appointed by the Governor from each of the Canadian and the U.S. portions of the District.
 
The appointment is a three-year term, subject to an annual review.

Responsibilities: 
  1. Review the District’s policies/operations to ensure the District complies with all legal and fiduciary duties and responsibilities.  
  2. Take appropriate action to maintain compliance with the established code of policies of Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation.                                                                                                                                             
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
  • Review issues related to the governance of Rotary International, including governance procedures utilized and make recommendations to improve, when warranted.
  • Serving on one of the sub-committees and reporting within 10 days following each sub-committee meeting by filing a report to the Chair of the Governance Committee for inclusion in the next meeting of the Governance Committee.
  • Experience in organizational development, insurance, legal, admin, operations, and strategy, etc. are welcome.
