The Rotary Foundation (TRF) offers two (2) types of grants: District and Global.

2023-24 Global Grants:
All Clubs are invited to QUALIFY for Global Grants for the Rotary year. Qualification assures The Rotary Foundation that your Club has the proper financial and stewardship controls in place to successfully manage grant funds. Grant management encompasses everything from selecting projects and activities to applying for the grant, to ensuring proper stewardship of funds, to evaluating and reporting grant outcomes.
To be eligible to participate in any Rotary Foundation Grant supported by District 7090, each Rotary Club must be qualified on an annual basis.
Qualifying for GLOBAL GRANTS:
Global Grants fund large-scale projects and activities, involving both a Host and an International partner. All projects that receive Foundation grants must be initiated and managed by Rotarians.
Global grants must:
- Align with one or more Areas of Focus.
- Respond to a need identified by the benefiting community, as clearly indicated in the mandatory need assessment document.
- Include the active participation of the benefiting community.
- Be sustainable: designed to enable the community to help itself after the Rotary Club or District has concluded its work.
- Have measurable outcomes.
To be eligible to sign the Club MOU, and participate in global grants, VTT (vocational training team), as a host, or as an international partner, and for a club to receive financial matching from the district, a club is required to qualify by:
- Club dues must be in good standing
- Enter Rotary Foundation goals and active Foundation Chair assigned into My Rotary
- A) Have a minimum of 2 ACTIVE member complete the online module, “Grant Management Seminar” or, if already completed to complete “Grant Management Recertification 2023-24” and receive a minimum score of 80%.

Timeline to complete qualification:
- Prior to any global grant application.
- An international partner and/or host club must maintain qualified status throughout the life cycle of the global grant.
MOU for Global Grants:
- MOU, specific to global grants, may be submitted anytime after qualifying and PRIOR to submitting any applications for global grant funding.
- Signing of the Club MOU, as required by Rotary International, is to be completed by the current President, authorizing applications, and President Elect.
Global grants may be submitted at any time, subject to available funds. The application form can be found at www.rotary.org>The Rotary Foundation>Apply for Grants>Grant Centre. Important grant resources and forms are found in the Grant Center.
Effectively immediately…………..April 2022
- An individual Rotarian in D7090 may now contribute directly to a global grant and request matching funds from D7090, DDF. The Rotarian will also receive Paul Harris points and a tax receipt for their contribution. A request for matching funds must be made, in writing, to the District Grants Subcommittee Chair: LezlieMurch@gmail.com
- Clubs are no longer required to be qualified if they are a non-primary funder to a global grant and they wish to request D7090 matching monies. Note, that both a host and international partner must be qualified in order to receive DDF matching funds.
- Clubs are now required to: “submit a grant” request on the DISTRICT website: www.rotary7090.org, grants module when requesting matching funds, and have club funding in place prior to an application being authorized.
- Clubs that wish to do a global grant in district 7090, with the host AND international partner as D7090 clubs, can now receive additional matching funds. For example, Club X in New York is the host club and is eligible to receive up to $10,000 matching and Club Y in Ontario is the international partner club is now eligible to receive up to $5,000 in matching, for the same project.
- Clubs are no longer required to seek approval from the district International Service Committee and District Council in order to solicit support funding from clubs in D7090.
