NEEDIEST FAMILIES FUNDED

On Friday, December 1, residents and members of the Akron-Newstead business community gathered with Rotarians and their guests at the Akron Fire Hall for a festive evening featuring food, friends, fellowship, and community-outreach.

The approximately 120 people that attended the 28th annual fundraiser were treated to hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, and the soulful sounds of Saxman Slim. The event featured an Angel Tree, Theme-Basket Raffle, Silent Auction, and the ever-popular Mystery Gift Auction – where wrapped gifts of unknown content are auctioned off to the highest bidder.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will be used to support the Club's “Neediest Families Fund". The fund provides assistance to families that require aid outside of the holiday season and to families that experience catastrophic life-altering events throughout the year.

Individuals or organizations wishing to make a donation to the "Akron-Newstead Rotary's Neediest Family Fund" may do so by mailing their donation to Akron-Newstead Rotary Club,  P.O. Box 300, Akron, NY 14001. Please make checks payable to "Akron-Newstead Rotary Club" and indicate "Neediest Family Fund" on the "Memo" line of the check.

“We are pleased that our Annual Holiday Auction Fundraiser has garnered the support of the Akron-Newstead community", commented club President John Gehl,. "This is truly a special event and I would like to thank everyone that partnered with us and helped make this event a huge success - especially those individuals and businesses that donated/purchased auction items. On behalf of the Akron-Newstead Rotarians, I wish you all a happy and safe holiday season.”
